Sneak preview concept art! Everything is subject to change.
They are based on traditional sentai teams, but with the stereotypical genders inverted. I plan to give them slightly different bodytypes once I flesh the characters out as individuals.
They are bsed on the 5 Sacred Elements of Wicca (which are basically the same as Captain Planet, lol.) Their chest and belt symbols indicate their respective direction and symbol.
Red: Fire, South, Athame/Sword Blue: Water, West, Chalice Yellow: Air, East, Wand Pink: (Should be white, but I want a pink one damnit) Spirit, Center, Crystal Green: Earth, North, Paton (engraved plate)
When I and my little brother were a white (or black or silver or gold) was typically used as the sixth ranger, so no, you got that right. For the record though, the one time when blue was that light, the wearer was female, so I'd darken it a bit when you do the final designs. Allso, yellow has been used by both genders a few times, so you could go either way with that one.
I really like the color palette, how *these particular* red, green, yellow, and blue go together. I also enjoy how you blended silhouettes of sentai and the stereotypical witch--I look forward to seeing what the hat does. But, as a Wiccan, I kind of expected another element (lol) of their costumes to be an occult reference. Like, maybe instead of a pentacle on their chests, the alchemical symbols for each element. Or zodiac symbols on the cape. I don't know how much individualization is 'allowed'/typical in the sentai genre, but that would allow more sneaky occult references. (if you're looking for sneaky occult references to put in there, I'd be happy to supply, but I also believe in your ability to google things) These witches are gonna show up in Sister Claire, right? Because I can't wait for them to make an appearance!
Yes, they will! And I'll admit that part of the reason they all have one unified symbol was to give them more of a team logo (although other witches will use it too) and because it saves me time. Alchemical symbols aren't always very simple, and they are also hard to draw from memory. I can work faster if I use an easy symbol I already know.
