Sofie is the main character, and yet lately I haven't drawn much of her at all! I am trying to give her that sleepy-eyed, English Rose look. I don't think I've quite succeeded.
I should also be less lazy and do more finished art with long hair. I still don't really know how to draw it properly in 3D with shading/color.
I'm going to start paying closer attention to models like Holly/Ivory Flame, who have the type of classical look I'm going for: [link]
Perhaps it's that she has light eyes and not dark eyes, the sleepiness seems to either come from the darker colour or the deepness of the colour, with few highlights, but enough to still suggest realism.
I love the way Sophie looks here-- Elegant and dignified but still frail like a young child. I especially think the way you executed the high- and lowlights of her hair looks fantastic! I love her curls.
I think I know what you mean by the "sleepy English rose eyes." She looks too sleepy and not enough rosey, if that makes sense. I think that the issue might be that the eyes are too wide and almond-shaped, instead of large, but more tall than wide. Y'know what I mean? I hope that helps a little.
REALLY looking forward to seeing more of this series!!!
It's actually modern-day, lol. It's just that Sofie comes from an obscenely rich old-money family, and she basically lets her parents dress her (she's blind) so she ends up in these classical-looking ourfits because her parents are prudes and think she looks "cute" in them. XD
Remind me when I end my "I need to draw 453789576583.6 drawings of Charlie and her bangin' mom" phase to make MOAR Sofie my god.
BUT OH MY GOD THIS IS WONDERFUL I absolutely LOVE the way you draw her hair (both up and down--those bangs) Personally I think you nailed that look, especially the first image that pops in that link.
UUUHHGGG WHY AM I SO EXCITED FOR THIS COMIC STOP TORMENTING ME.

"I think people want to make me look like a slutty Italian girl--which I am."
LMAO THE FIRST THING I READ WAS "I need to draw 423904823904832 drawings of Charlie banging her mom" and I was like WHOOOOOOOAAAAHH that's strangely arousing actually. *shot*
You definately got the "sleepy-eyed, English Rose" look across, though! Very elegant and soft. I think that maybe her skin tone could be brightened up a little. Her nose in the right-hand rendition seems a tad flat and lopsided. And, though I might be the queen of fast sketches (especially when it comes to hair), I'd love to see more detail overall (especially with the hair). I like it overall, though!
