I just decided to try out for a roller derby team, and this piece really captures the intensity and dedication of female skaters. The background is so clean, while still being, for lack of a better word, gritty, like a true athlete showing the blood, sweat and tears that go into giving something all that you have. I love the bandage across her nose and the brass knuckles she is wearing adding to her toughness, while the skirt keeps her sexy yet strong...fantastic if it is okay with you I would like to use this piece as my profile picture for my "derby girl" facebook page
The first thing i noticed was the expression. A look of pure, "What the hell are you looking at?", tough, confident and in charge. The hair has a nice wave to it. It adds grace to this otherwise very aggressive looking piece. It is also a great show of movement, waving in the wind. The position of the legs make her appear to charge forward even after looking at you, the viewer. This moment captured in your vision as she passed you. Due to the brass knuckles having red material on them, am i to assume she wrote the mark behind her is in the blood of an innocent victim or perhaps an unruly gang member she had to teach a lesson. Either way it makes the piece more bold...the red i mean, so much more power than if you had just made it a black and white piece. So all and all a power, amazing piece. Good job
I really like the blood effect, it gives a stunning atmosphere. Did she cut ties with her "home", her "family" -if she has one-, from this world of violence ? Her expression seems to say she's a tough girl and she has no regrets -maybe she did evil deeds there it's like she runs away from this home but she want to keep moving on. "What happens ?" is the biggest question ever
