I drew this in Amsterdam, while researching for my upcoming comic, Nightingale! This is a sneak peak at the concept art.
Undercover.... at Gay Pride, maybe? I drew this on a moving train, which is why EVERYTHING is wrong with it. It's especially painful to look at Emily's wrist.
I started out just trying to sketch Emily's face, then I gave her a body, and then we happened to go into a gay shop where I saw some t-shirts/posters/bumper stickers that said "I'm not Gay... I just like Rainbows!" and I knew I had to draw a character wearing it sometime. Then I realized how hilarious it would be if Sofie was somehow dragged into accompanying Emily at Gay Pride for whatever reason. Sofie isn't really homophobic, and heck, she might even be interested in a girl herself someday, but she doesn't ever really think about dating because she is always SRS BUSINESS GUYS.
...She especially hates being dressed up in silly, silly clothes and being jostled around by crazy, noisy strangers. The only reason I can imagine why she'd be talked into it would be if she and Emily were going undercover as part of her superhero endeavors.
It might not be the most refined sketch around, but I have noticed that it seems to be somewhat stylistically different from Sister Claire. I do have a question about your Nightingale comic now that I know that is what it is going to be. Will you be posting it after you are done writing Sister Claire or will be working on both concurrently more or less?
Yes, it's a completely different style of art and story.
I'll be working on both at the same time, but I'm not sure how/when I'll be posting final pages of Nightingale. It's still in concept, and will be for at least another year. Unlike Sister Claire, it's going to be heavily based on real locations and will required intensive research.
It sounds like it will be an interesting departure from Sister Claire. What is the genre of Nightingale by the way? Do you have a webpage about the comic that I can check out?
Oh, it's going to be COMPLETELY different from Sister Claire. xD
The web page so far is under construction, and doesn't offer much information that isn't already in the comments on the drawings here. [link]
The genre is technically "superhero", but it breaks a lot of typical superhero tropes. It's a lot more realistic (hence all the intensive research I'm putting into it, lol). As such, it'll focus less on action scenes and more on investigation/suspense. Imagine if Batman, Daredevil, and Sherlock Holmes somehow had a baby, and she was a blind little girl in Amsterdam. That's Nightingale. XD
It sounds like it will be an interesting comic. Since she seems to be the love child of Batman, Daredevil and Sherlock Holmes, one can only hope she inherited Bat's intelligence without his brooding nature. So I take it Sofie is the taller girl in the picture while Emily is the shorter?
So which one is the hero and which is the sidekick?
Actually, Sofie is the smaller, blind one. Emily is her taller, dark-haired deaf cousin, and she'd HATE to be called a sidekick. I think she'd settle for being called a "partner." XD

It's just gonna take some practice!
